EdD Impact Podcast S4E2, with guest Dr. Maria Toglia

Dr. Toglia is the Director of Capacity Building for the PA Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She began her career as an outpatient child and adolescent therapist in community mental health working with underserved children and families. As a Certified School Psychologist, Dr. Toglia has served in the Pennsylvania public school system for the last 20 years working with students who present with a broad range of learning and social emotional needs. She has developed a particular interest in literacy in response to the reading crisis in Pennsylvania and is working to ensure that all children have equitable access to scientifically based reading instruction delivered by well trained and supported teachers. She has held leadership positions with the Read By 4th campaign, IDA-PA and Teach Plus, and is a founding member of the PA Literacy Coalition. Dr. Toglia works collaboratively to promote systemic changes that will support sustainable and equitable educational practices that lead to improved outcomes for all students learning to read. She holds an M.S. in Clinical Child Psychology from Vanderbilt University and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University.
